We depend on your charitable donations raised in conjunction with fundraising events. All funding directly benefits the patients at Leeds St. James' University Hospital, Bexley Wing / Leeds Cancer Centre.
Your donations are used primarily to contribute to the provision of free TV for patients. This money is sent to a fund, 'The Friends TV Account' which is run by the registered charity 'Friends of the Leeds Centre for Leukaemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma'.
We also use donations to provide patients with drinks and snacks on our popular hospital visits.
Notes from the 'Friends' website: From 2019 the Friends have been collaborating with the informal fundraising group, 'Hug on a Tray', run by the 'Chevin Socialites', over the funding of the patient bedside TV. Whilst the Leeds Hospitals contracts with Hospedia to provide these services it is expected that patients will pay for the access to TV. For the past 3 years Hug on a Tray have managed to raise funds such that for most of the time patients have not had to pay for the basic level of service. To comply with Charity Commission guidelines the Friends have taken on responsibility for managing these costs by establishing a separate specific TV account. Hug on a Tray (Chevin Socialites) continue to support the fundraising and it is hoped that the funds within the TV account will be sufficient to continue funding TV to all inpatients.
